Redmi 8A Hands-on Images Reveal 5,000mAh battery, Snapdragon 439 SoC

Aug. 19, 2019

Xiaomi is all set to launch its entry-level Redmi 8-series smartphones in China, and leaked hands-on images have now seemingly revealed what might be the most affordable device in the lineup. The handset, with model number M1908C3IC, was earlier rumored to be the Redmi 8, but latest reports now seem to suggest that it will most likely be marketed as the Redmi 8A.

The device was recently listed on Chinese electronics certification agency, TENAA, revealing that it will feature a 6.26-inch HD+ 2.5D display with a teardrop notch and a 1520 × 720 resolution. It will also be powered by the Snapdragon 439 SoC, the exact same chip that powers the Redmi 7A. It will be offered in three variants – 2GB+16GB, 3GB+32GB and 4GB+64GB – and will come with a microSD slot that will support cards of up to 512GB in capacity.

It is worth noting here that though the official spec sheet is from TENAA, the exact identity of the device is yet to be confirmed by Xiaomi. While the leak does seem to suggest that it will be eventually launched as the Redmi 8A, it isn’t immediately possible to confirm the veracity of the report, so do take it with a pinch of salt for now.
